1962 marked the end of the run for the 1st generation of America’s sports car. Many believe the 1962 Corvette to indeed be the finest of the generation, with its new 327ci engine and refined styling. The 1962 benefitted from the 10 year development of the Corvette since its introduction in 1953. The 1962 was faster, handled better, looked handsomer, and was more civilized than any previous Corvette, while still retaining much of the charm of the original 1953 roadster And

at the top of the food chain in 1962 was the 327/360hp fuel injected 4-Speed roadster. Car and Driver Magazine in a December 1961 review of the 1962 Corvette stated unequivocally: “The 360hp fuel injected version more then makes good on the public relations promise ‘of added excitement for those wishing the ultimate in performance.” Yes, this is a 1st generation Corvette

for the enthusiast who not only appreciates Corvette styling; but, welcomes the performance delivered by the option 582 327/360hp fuel injected engine.

The Roman Red, with Red interior, Black Soft Top and Auxiliary Hard Top 327/360hp 4-Speed Fuel Injected Corvette being offered is a truly exceptional example of the 1962 model. This Corvette was painstakingly restored over a period 10 years by long time master Corvette restorer Dick Robinson to factory original appearance with internal modifications to enhance performance, reliability and drivability. This is 1962 Corvette, which is as enjoyable to drive as it is beautiful to look at. A perfect winning combination for a Corvette owner.

Restored to be a practical driver in today’s world of fuel restrictions: the engine was built with 10:1 rather then the original 11: 1 compression; so, it can be run on pump gas rather than the race or aviation fuel the original-built engine would have required; the rear ratio is a 3.70 posi, which makes for a practical, drivable, over-the-road car;  the clutch is a quality Center Force unit; the original-appearing early ’62 air cleaner was modified to the open ’62 style introduced in mid-1962 production, when the earlier design was shown to be too air restrictive for the larger 327ci engine resulting in diminished performance; the battery is an original - appearing gel cell type; the paint is original type acrylic lacquer, without clear; the fuel injection unit was extensively restored by noted fuel injection expert Gail Parsons and has .032mm ’S’ nozzles for best all-around performance; and the original hardtop wrench, owner’s manual, jack and lug wrench accompany the car.

Once again, this a 1962 fuel injected Corvette restored by a master restorer, with over 50 years experience restoring the 1 generation Corvettes. If you want a 1962 327/360hp 4-Speed Corvette restored correctly, presenting exquisitely and pure joy to drive, this Corvette is certainly worthy of your consideration and should be seen in person.
